![]() ![]() One downside of the original Super Game Boy, is that it did not have an extension port, most games can only be played by a single player unless the game explicitly supported two players on the Super Game Boy. Game Boy games that took advantage of the Super Game Boy are said to be "Super Game Boy Compatible" games. It includes a whole separate 16-bit version of the game. Space Invaders for Game Boy is an example of that. And there are even some games that included a special Super Game Boy version of the game which could only be played on the Super Game Boy. There are also games that use the Super Game Boy and Super Nintendo to make better sound and music. Games could also take advantage of the Super Game Boy to allow two players to play on one GB cartridge using two Super Nintendo controllers. The Super Game Boy can add some limited colors to Game Boy games, and games can take advantage of the Super Game Boy to either display a unique border around the playing field or to provide a specific color scheme for the game. Like the original Game Boy, the Game Boy Pocket, and the Game Boy Light, the Super Game Boy is not compatible with Game Boy Color-only games. You can even create your own color schemes that can be saved with a password. ![]() The menu lets the player select a border around the playing field, and what color scheme you want to use for the game. There's a port on the top to insert Game Boy cartridges. Inside the adapter is the complete Game Boy hardware minus the screen and extension port. The Super Game Boy is an adapter for the SNES released in 1994 that lets you play Game Boy games on a TV using your SNES. ![]()
